PZ Vrbnik wijnen

PZ Vrbnik, gelegen op het eiland KrK, werd in 1904 opgericht en startte met 58 leden. In deze coöperatie zijn de kleine lokale boeren uit de omgeving van Vrbnik verenigd. In 1932 werd een wijnkelder gebouwd waarin tot op de dag van vandaag druiven worden verzameld en verwerkt. Om zich aan te kunnen passen aan alle nieuwe technische processen schafte de coöperatie in 1990 nieuwe druivenverwerkingsapparatuur aan die nodig zijn voor wijnbereidingstechnieken. Als resultaat van deze investeringen werd in 1995 het belangrijkste product gecreëerd, namelijk de Zlatna vrbnička žlahtina. De coöperatie heeft tegenwoordig 125 leden en is nog steeds de hoeksteen van de stad Vrbnik. De wijngaarden van de žlahtina-soort strekken zich grotendeels uit over het vruchtbare Vrbnik-veld gelegen aan de oostkant van het eiland Krk en in het westelijke deel van de gemeente Vrbnik. De totale oppervlakte aan wijngaarden in de gemeente Vrbnik en Garica bedraagt 130 hectare, waarvan de leden van de coöperatie 80 hectare cultiveren.
