Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb both play crucial European matches this evening, with the chance to take significant steps toward the knockout stages.
Hajduk, currently with a perfect record in the Conference League, travel to Gibraltar to face Lincoln Red Imps at the compact Europa Point Stadium. Kick-off is at 18:45 local time. The Splićani won their opening two matches, beating Ajax 2-1 at Poljud and Thun 1-0 away, giving them six points. A win tonight would lift them to nine points, all but securing a place in the top 24 and European football after the winter break.
The match will be played on an artificial pitch often affected by strong winds, and the stadium holds just 2,000 spectators. Lincoln have lost both of their opening games, against Brann and Twente, but Hajduk coach Gonzalo García warned against complacency. The game is broadcast on Arena Sport 1.
Later, Dinamo Zagreb visit Sunderland in the Europa League at the Stadium of Light, with kick-off at 21:00. The Blues have had a mixed start with four points from three matches: a goalless draw at Hapoel Be'er Sheva, a 1-0 home win over Anderlecht, and a 2-4 defeat to NEC Nijmegen. Interim coach Jerko Leko takes charge for the first time after Mario Kovačević was dismissed. Sunderland have collected seven points in the competition, but they sit bottom of the Premier League after nine rounds. A Dinamo victory would bring them to seven points and greatly improve their chances of advancing. The match is also on Arena Sport 1.
