Police in Samobor checked 57 cars on Saturday evening, 31 October, as part of an extraordinary technical inspection aimed at preventing gatherings of modified vehicles known as "car meets". The action was carried out by Zagreb Police Administration in cooperation with the local vehicle technical inspection station.

Of the 57 cars inspected, eight were sent for extraordinary technical checks. One vehicle was found with a dangerous defect and immediately taken off the road, while seven others had major defects. In total, police recorded 18 traffic offences under the Road Traffic Safety Act.

The offences included eight cases of technical non-compliance, four speeding violations, one instance of drink-driving, one of driving without a licence, one of not wearing a seatbelt, one of improper child transport, one of driving with an expired licence, and one parking offence.

Police said the aim was to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and improve safety for all road users. Their presence also helped prevent unlawful behaviour and noise disturbance often associated with such gatherings, which can disrupt residents' quality of life. The operation reportedly deterred many owners of modified cars from breaking the rules.
