Pula has landed seventh place on Skyscanner's list of the ten most affordable global air destinations for 2027, with flight prices to the Istrian city expected to fall by around 20 percent compared with this year. The ranking, released this week by the travel search platform, highlights places where travellers are likely to find significantly cheaper air fares next year.

Bilbao in Spain tops the list with an anticipated drop of 66 percent, followed by Wrocław in Poland at 47 percent and Bordeaux in France at 34 percent. Alongside Pula, the top ten also includes Zurich, Ancona, Rhodes, Carcassonne, Fez and Krabi.

For visitors, that could mean a return to Pula from many European cities will cost noticeably less in 2027, making a short break or summer holiday on the Istrian peninsula more attractive. The city is known for its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, easy access to beaches and coastal towns like Rovinj and Poreč, and a growing food scene focused on truffles, olive oil and fresh seafood.

Skyscanner's findings suggest travellers are paying more attention to transport costs when choosing where to go, not just accommodation prices. A 20 percent reduction in average flight prices could help Pula compete with better-connected Mediterranean destinations and draw more first-time visitors who might previously have overlooked it.

The news is also a boost for Croatian tourism, as direct air connections play a key role in international competitiveness. While no specific routes or airlines were named in the ranking, the expected price drop reflects broader trends in European aviation for the coming year.
